
PMI-AGC Kuwait conducted a 5 day training workshop on Value Engineering from October 10, 2010 till October 14, 2010. The workshop was held at Holiday Inn, Salmiya. The diverse group of 22 attendees represented various sectors including healthcare, oil & gas, information technology, research & development as well as professional services.
The workshop explored methodologies and techniques that help business owners and project managers in improving their businesses. It introduced some innovative techniques and ideas to enhance performance by applying the VE Methodology to real life projects. The workshop was delivered by Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Yousefi, a renowned value engineering expert.
Mr. Al-Yousefi is the founder and owner of the first value engineering office in the Arab World. He is a Certified Value Specialist for life (CVS-life) from SAVE International: The Value Society. He is the only Arab to become a Fellow of SAVE International. He served in the past as the President of SAVE International - Arabian Gulf chapter; General Secretary of the Saudi Council of Engineers and Vice president of PMI-AGC. He is a board member of SAVE International Certification Board, the Saudi Council of Engineers, King Abdulaziz Quality Award and Saudi National Quality Council. He has more than 25 years of experience in Value Engineering (VE), Life Cycle Costing (LCC), Project Management and Design Reviews of large-scale projects. He wrote the first Arabic book titled: Value Management: concept and techniques in 1991. The fifth edition was published in July 2009.
The AVS (Associate Value Specialist) certification exam was also conducted at the end of the workshop. 12 participants chose to take the exam and all of them passed with flying colours.
Mr. Ahmed Samir, VP Programs thanked all the attendees for their active participation in the workshop and briefed them about the activities arranged by PMI-AGC to promote project management practices across the region.
